Vienna, Va., May 5, 2011 – Merlin International (www.merlin-intl.com), the leading IT solutions provider to the U.S. Federal Government, today announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs awarded the company a contract within the Network Security Operation Center (NSOC) Trusted Internet Connection Gateway (TIC) providing an enterprise framework of products and services necessary for the VA to achieve OMB compliancy on TIC connectivity* and stronger protection against cyber security threats.

Merlin’s solution at the VA is the largest installation within the U.S. Federal Government of a real time desktop monitoring system.  The VA now has visibility in to every desktop installed (which exceeds 350,000) to ensure that data coming in and out will be monitored and analyzed to better protect against security threats.   Merlin accomplished this by implementing an internal cloud across the VA’s four internet TIC gateways.  This provides services not only instrumental in meeting the OMB mandate but also multiple internal initiatives within the VA.
